The internationally reputed linguist, the revered Professor and one of the brightest stars of the Indian academia, Dr. Sukumar Sen, had his ancestral house in Gotan and he spent his early days up to his teens here. Just 2 kilometers south-east of Gotan is the famous Daminya village.
